Requested by readers, Cheri McDaniel’s first book Tour, June 15, will take St. James Place residents to two creative homes and a national business. Beginning almost 40 years ago and the business today, these properties have hosted many community events such as Baton Rouge Opera, Quota Club tours, Baton Rouge Symphony. Baton Rouge Art League and others.
WALDEN Truly a “work of art”! Contemporary architecture of Texas limestone and Canadian clear-heart cedar has 46 panels of plate glass showcasng courtyards and extensive gardens. European architectural antiques and furnishings provide a beautiful and spphisicsted, yet comfortable, lifestyle.
LA LOUISIANE. Carved from 71/1 acres of the former Imahara Nursery property, Cheri created a quiet private neighborhood of one of a kind homes, shaded by the trees hand- dug from the street right- of- way and placed strategically on the homesites.
Her 30 year building career ended two weeks after her daughter, Susan Roland, ( manager of their Fireside Antiques business which specialized in English antiques) , became pregnant with quadruplets. Cheri took overmanagement of Fireside for 17 years while Susan focused on her busy family, older son Jason, quads Ariel, Laura, Jacob and Macon, plus Sarah who was born two years later. Cheri developed markets in France, and built the showcase Eurioean French home, and Fireside Antiques became a national business.
EUROPEAN FRENCH CHATEAU – Tired of commuting from her country home, Cheri created a small, elegant home, authentic in detail to the 18th century French chateau from which came the boisorie she used for doors and over mantles. The home became the scene of numerous charitable events, while establishing Fireside Antiques as experts in French architecture and furnishings. The tour group will enjoy lunch in the formal walled garden where the Baton Riuge Ballet has danced!
FIRESIDE ANTIQUES As you walk through the expansive showrooms and personally selected an European antiques, you will understand why Fireside is now a national business with more shipped sight-unseen to customers out of state. Third-generation, Laura Roland, is the professional photographer and manager of Fireside’s definitive website.
